Asian & Pacific Islander American Heritage Celebration – Thursday, May 6, 2021, noon to 1:30 p.m.

UC San Diego’s 15th Anniversary Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Celebration Kickoff and Scholarship Awards is a free, virtual event that will kick off a month-long celebration focusing on the theme, “Empowering Community Through Reflection and Recognition.” This online event celebrates the culture, traditions and history of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans in the United States and pays tribute to the generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched our nation’s history and are instrumental in its future success. In addition, this annual celebration recognizes student scholarship recipients. The keynote speaker for this event will be actor Taylor Takahashi. The event will also feature a live DJ, taiko drumming and comedy performances from “Crazy Woke Asians.“ ASL Interpreters and Closed Captioning will be available.
