Culinary Historians of San Diego will present Jamming Through the Ages, featuring Christina Sleeper, via Zoom. For as long as humans have been farming and tending the fields, they have shared a common problem — how to preserve fruits and vegetables that are so delicious when perishable. Making jam was one solution. Over the years, what began as a preservation method has evolved into a mealtime staple, enjoyed for its many unique and delicious flavors even when fresh produce is available. How long have people been making jams? How does the process work? And how difficult is it for home cooks to make jams? Christina Sleeper, a Master Food Preserver and jam maker with decades of experience, will answer these questions and more in a lively presentation. Christina Sleeper is a Los Angeles chef, host and entrepreneur. Her multi-disciplinary approach has informed her culinary endeavors for more than 25 years.
