Kitchen fire displaces resident in Bay Terraces

February 8, 2021 by systems

A kitchen fire in an apartment in San Diego’s Bay Terraces neighborhood displaced a resident Sunday afternoon, fire officials said.

The fire broke out about 1:50 p.m. in a unit at an apartment complex on Doriana Street off Alta View Drive, just south of the Paradise Hills Recreation Center, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire, which was contained to the kitchen, Battalion Chief Dave Pilkerton said.

The displaced resident planned to stay with family in the area and did not need assistance from the Red Cross, Pilkerton said.

The cause was under investigation. A damage estimate was not available.
