Young Choreographers + Invited Guests: San Diego Dance Theater brings back the Young Choreographers Showcase & Prize featuring young and upcoming choreographic artistry. This year will showcase choreographers originally selected for the 2021 Young Choreographers Showcase & Prize that was cancelled due to COVID-19: Luci Salinas, Kevin Truitt, Odessa Uno, and Stephanie Vasquez. These finalists will present their work to a panel of qualified, diverse judges who will determine the awards of “Best Overall”, and “Best Dancer”, while the audience will have an opportunity to vote each night and choose the “Audience Favorite”. Adding to the program and in the spirit of collaboration and support, San Diego Dance Theater has chosen to include invited guests: a soloist from the Teen Dance Fierce program Maya Allum created by San Diego Dance Theater’s Mario Jaimes, Mitchum Todd, Mayra Barragan, and H2O Dance Company, directed by Rebekah Brown.
