Train strikes, kills pedestrian in Old Town

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a train struck and killed a pedestrian in Old Town late Tuesday, the department said.

The incident happened about 10:10 p.m. near the Old Town Transit Center, the department said in a news release.

A northbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train was crossing Taylor Street when it struck the person, who died at the scene.

The department did not provide any further information.
