UC San Diego’s 20th Anniversary César E. Chávez Celebration Kickoff and Awards Ceremony is a free, virtual event that will kick off a month-long celebration focusing on the theme, “50 years of the Chicano Movement: The Legacy and Struggle.” The keynote speaker for this event will be actor, comedian and activist Cheech Marin. Attendees will learn about Marin’s collection of Chicano art, the world of comedy and film, his activism and the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture. The event will also feature a live DJ and recognize community and alumni award recipients who further Chávez’s ideals in their communities and on campus.
