Join SDFA board member John Blocker as he takes us on a stroll through the history of Balboa Park’s iconic Botanical Building. When Alfred Robinson, a founder of SDFA, dreamed in 1909 of an enormous lath house that would soar above the Panama-California Exposition grounds, he could not have foreseen that over a century later thousands of visitors would still be experiencing its charisma. For the past few years, SDFA has offered monthly tours of the building and its environs, but during pandemic closure and the upcoming building restoration the tours have been cancelled. Instead, John and California Garden’s Art Director (and new Editor) Rachel Cobb have created this virtual tour that captures the beauty of the landscape surrounding the Botanical Building and the fascinating flora of its interior.
