A wind advisory has been extended until 10 p.m. Wednesday for the San Diego County mountains and deserts and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, the National Weather Service said.

It had been expected to expire at 5 a.m., after going into effect at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

West winds between 25 and 35 mph, with gusts up to 65, were in the forecast.

Winds will subside somewhat during the morning, then strengthen again for the afternoon and early evening, the weather service said.

Gusts could blow around unsecured objects, tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result, the forecasters said.

Drivers on Interstate 8 were urged to use extra caution, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Residents were also urged to secure outdoor objects.
