A 12-year-old girl went missing Saturday in Carlsbad, and police are asking for the public’s help to locate her.

Her parents called Carlsbad police around 2:40 p.m. She left her home in the El Camino Real and Chestnut Avenue area around noon.

Police said the girl, whose name is not being being released for privacy, is considered at-risk. She can often be seen near El Camino Real and Haymar Drive in Carlsbad or at the Encinitas YMCA.

Police have been searching the local area with assistance from the San Diego sheriff’s helicopter. Officers are asking anyone who has any information, or who observes or finds her, to call the department at (760) 931-2197.
