A man was stabbed in his back several times Friday night outside a City Heights 7-Eleven, San Diego police said.

The 31-year-old victim was expected to survive the attack, of which few details were available Friday night, Officer Robert Heims said.

The stabbing was reported about 8:55 p.m. near a bus stop outside the 7-Eleven on University Avenue and Fairmount Avenue, Heims said in a news release. Officers arrived to find the victim with multiple stab wounds to his back.

Paramedics took him to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Heims said.
