San Diego Business Journal

The Palomar Community College District has appointed Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey as its new superintendent/president. Rivera-Lacey previously served as assistant superintendent/vice president of student services at Palomar. She is currently serving as the vice president of student services at the San Diego College of Continuing Education, the noncredit division of the San Diego Community College District.

As superintendent/president, Rivera-Lacey will oversee a community college district encompassing 2,555 square miles in North San Diego County. She will also manage an annual budget of nearly $582 million.

Rivera-Lacey begins in her new post July 26, pending final governing board approval on July 6. She will replace Dr. Jack Kahn, who served in the role since July 2020 after serving as acting superintendent/president from December 2019. Prior to his appointment as the acting and then interim superintendent/president, Dr. Kahn was assistant superintendent/vice president of instruction, a role he plans to return to.
